JNU Sedition Case: Draft Chargesheet Names Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid

Virtually 3 years after a case of sedition was once filed towards scholars of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in reference to a campus tournament all over which alleged “anti-national” slogans had been allegedly raised, the Delhi Police has finalised the draft chargesheet within the case. 

The chargesheet names Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya as the principle accused, The Indian Express reported. 

It additionally names 8 others and has been despatched to the general public prosecutor for vetting, the document added. 

“Police have discovered concrete proof towards the 8 others, all hailing from Kashmir… two of them are scholars at JNU, two at Jamia Millia Islamia, one at Aligarh Muslim College, one is a Muradnagar-based physician and two are scholars,” a senior police officer advised The Indian Categorical.

The chargesheet is according to the FIR filed after the development was once hung on nine February 2016. The development was once held on the varsity’s campus towards placing of Parliament assault convict Afzal Guru

Kumar, Khalid and Bhattacharya had been arrested in February 2016 on fees of sedition in reference to the development, however had been launched on bail. Their arrest had prompted in style protests.
